Vial y Vives - DSD obtains contract for Quebrada Blanca Phase 2 Project

Compañía Minera Teck Quebrada Blanca S.A. (“Teck”) has awarded our subsidiary in Chile, Vial y Vives – DSD S.A., a contract to carry out electromechanical assembly and civil works in the Pebble Crushing and Grinding area of the Concentration Plant for Teck’s Quebrada Blanca Phase 2 Project. For this purpose, the company followed a strict due diligence process managed by Bechtel Chile, Ltda., according to the highest international standards.

The Quebrada Blanca Phase 2 Project (QB2) is an expansion of Teck’s Quebrada Blanca copper operation in Chile’s Tarapacá region. The project includes the construction of a 143,000-ton-per-day concentration plant and related facilities, which are connected to a new port and a desalination plant by a 165-kilometer desalinated-water pipeline. The average annual copper production over the first five full years of operation is estimated at 316,000 tons. QB2 will also include the first large-scale use of desalinated seawater in the Tarapacá region.

The consideration for the works will be in the US$ 250 million range, payable upon verification of the usual benchmarks for this type of work. The term for the execution of the works is approximately 28 months calculated from the notice to proceed date of the respective contract.

The signing of the contract reflects the progress made on the Group’s regional strategy and strengthens the position of our construction business in the mining market.
