On June 20th, was held the ceremony of the Graña y Montero Peruvian Engineering Research Award - 5th edition, which recognizes the talent of the engineering community and its contribution to the development of solutions for the benefit of society.
This year, the finalists came from various cities such as Lima, Piura, Cusco, Huanuco and La Libertad, of which winners were two teams of engineers from the National Engineering University (UNI). In the Professional Research category, the winners were Ms. Carmen Uribe Valenzuela and her team, who received 100,000 nuevos soles for the project "Textiles antimicrobianos funcionalizados con nanopartículas". Later, in the University Thesis category, the team of Mr. Félix Granda Perea and Mr. Julio Dávila Abril were awarded for their research project "Evaluación comparativa en una planta a escala de laboratorio de lodos activados de mezcla completa, en el tratamiento de lixiviado de relleno sanitario municipal diluido con agua residual".
The award ceremony was chaired by Mario Alvarado Pflucker, Corporate General Manager of the Graña y Montero Group; by Mr. Carlos Herrera Descalzi, National Dean of the College of Engineers of Peru and by Carlos Morelli Zavala, President of the Peruvian Academy of Engineering. In the words of the first, "five years ago, under the policy of Social Responsibility Group, the award was created to integrate the activity as a business group with an effort to stimulate the scientific production and research, oriented to generating value".
